Frome Vale pupils enjoy an inspiring RE lessons
Pupils at Frome Vale Academy have enjoyed a fantastic day of religious education, engaging in meaningful and interactive learning experiences.
Year 1 pupils especially enjoyed their exploration of Judaism. They had the opportunity to examine a variety of Jewish artefacts and learn about special items commonly found in a Jewish home.
Pupils also took part in discussions about key Jewish traditions, including the Mezuzah and Shabbat, gaining a deeper understanding of their significance and importance in Jewish life.
A mezuzah is a small container containing a parchment scroll with specific biblical passages (the Shema), typically affixed to the right side of doorposts in Jewish homes.
Shabbat is the Jewish day of rest, observed from Friday night to Saturday night, when Jews refrain from work and dedicate themselves to spiritual reflection and family time
A spokesperson for Frome Vale Academy said: “It was wonderful to see pupils so engaged and curious about another culture and faith.
“Days like these help foster respect, empathy, and a broader world view at an early age.”
